SA: Timeline in the case of missing student Megumi Suzuki

ADELAIDE, Dec 7 AAP - A timeline in the investigation of murdered Japanese student Megumi Suzuki:



August 3 - Last confirmed sighting of language student Megumi Suzuki when she leaves
the company of friends in Adelaide's Rundle Mall.



August 6 - A cash withdrawal is made from Ms Suzuki's bank account using an ATM at
suburban Westbourne Park.



August 9 - Eynesbury College staff contact police after Ms Suzuki fails to attend classes
three days in a row.



August 14 - Police express fears for the safety of the missing woman as a search for
her continues.



August 15 - Her parents fly into Adelaide from Japan to help police with the investigation,
returning after several days.



August 16 - South Australian police declare the disappearance of Ms Suzuki a major crime.



August 18 - Police search centres on inner-eastern suburbs after reported sighting
of Ms Suzuki outside the Arkaba Hotel.



October 31 - A 37-year-old man appears in the Adelaide Magistrates Court charged with
Megumi Suzuki's murder. His name is suppressed.



November 1 - Megumi Suzuki's parents speak with police in Adelaide again after travelling
from Japan for a second time following the arrest.



November 6 - Megumi Suzuki's parents return again to Japan.



November 26 - Police begin the search for Megumi Suzuki's body in a Wingfield garbage
dump. They plan to check through about 10,000 tonnes of household and industrial waste.



December 7 - The body of Ms Suzuki is recovered. The find coming after two weeks and
after about 2,000 tonnes of rubbish was inspected.
