FBI: Kid porn photographed at day care

MASON -- A Mason man who federal authorities said produced morethan 100 pornographic photos of children in the care of his motherwas arrested Thursday.

Andrew Faires Keith, 27, 411 Snider Court, was arrested on anindictment returned Wednesday by a federal grand jury on 115 countsof producing child pornography and single counts of transportationand possession of child pornography.

West Chester and Mason police assisted FBI agents in apprehendingKeith at his apartment, located less than a mile from Western RowElementary, according to the FBI.

The indictment alleges that Keith, multiple times in 2002 and2003, coerced or forced at least three prepubescent males to engagein sexually explicit conduct and made photographs of the acts.

Federal authorities recently became aware of the allegations whenKeith sent the images via the Internet to a person in SouthCarolina, FBI spokesman Todd Lindgren said.

"We don't know if there are other victims involved," Lindgrensaid. "We would encourage anyone with information to contact ouroffice."

The incidents are believed to have occurred at an in-home daycare run by Keith's mother in West Chester Twp., said Fred Alverson,spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Columbus. Authoritiesdid not release her name.

The photos described in the indictment depict naked children invarious poses, as well as incidents of Keith sexually abusing theboys.

Alverson said additional charges that address those incidents"have not been ruled out."

On Thursday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Muncy asked thecourt to detain Keith without bond.

Alverson described Keith is an "opportunistic offender" whocommitted crimes against children being cared for in his mother'shome.

"We feel he is a danger to the community," he said.

Keith has a detention hearing on Tuesday U.S. District Court inCincinnati.

Each count of production of child pornography is punishable by atleast 10 years and up to 20 years in prison.

Transportation of child pornography is punishable by at least 5years and up to 20 years in prison. Possession of child pornographyis punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
